Greetings everyone,

I apologize for the delay in letting everyone know about the service, but hopefully this isn’t too short notice for those of you who are able to join us.

The celebration of Ed’s life will be at 2pm on Saturday, June 14th, at the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church. The church is located at the corner of Lomas Santa Fe Drive and Stevens in Solana Beach. Exit I-5 at Lomas Santa Fe, head west 1/2 mile (3 stoplights) and turn left on Stevens. Following that we’ll be gathering at the house on Nardo for food and drinks and to share time with each other. (519 S. Nardo Ave, Solana Beach, CA)

The US Open is that weekend, we’re hoping that by 2pm most of the traffic will have subsided, but plan on Interstate 5 being more crowded than usual and give yourself extra time to get there.

Also, if you’ll be staying in San Diego there are a number of hotels nearby, but the farther south you go the more expensive they’ll get with a greater chance they’ll be sold out. The Ramada Suites in Carlsbad had vacancies as of Friday, it is located at Pointsettia Blvd, just west of the I-5. There is also a Holiday Inn Express in Solana Beach, but that may be booked due to the golf tournament. And finally, there are a number of hotels along I-5 in Encinitas, Leucadia and Carlsbad which may have vacancies.

Heather mentioned that in lieu of flowers we’d encourage you to donate to one of the charities listed below, or to your own special charity, in his memory. They are:

San Diego Hospice The Hospice folks were truly amazing, helping mom out with caring for dad, being there the day he died, and also following up with calls letting us know they cared and are there for us.

Scripps Health Foundation Scripps Mercy Hospital was where dad had his surgeries to try to fight the cancer and the entire staff was gracious and caring. Dr’s Saleh and Salem worked together to help dad, it was truly a collaborative environment between the two of them as well as a number of other doctors and specialists.

Friends of the Poor I found this group while searching for an organization to donate the extra medical supplies we have. After reading about their mission and the people running it, I think it would be a group dad would endorse. The woman who started it sounds a lot like dad’s mom Margaret (my grandmother Koko), and I think if they had met they would have been good friends.

We hope to see you Saturday if you can make it. You can reach us at any of the numbers below if you need to:

Erich – 858-682-7731
Heather – 858-692-0322
Norma – 858-254-2452

And finally, please forward this to anyone I might have missed on the email distribution list.

Best regards,

Erich
